Im a varied artist who isn't defined by medium or subject matter. All I know is this: whatever's made it on this site was led by "The Spark"—a feeling like knowing you're going the right way to get to the bathroom in the dark. It's a sense of rightness that tells you you're on to something. As a result, I'm experimenting with everything. A non-exhaustive list of mediums in my (overflowing yet organised) studio includes Copic markers, acrylic paint, Micron pens, graphite sticks, charcoal, shoe polish (?), acrylic ink, and more.
There are no art degrees on my wall, and I'm largely self taught (with essential guidance from some incredible high school art teachers, mentors, and the odd painting class). My artistic practice is therefore founded on curiosity, experimentation, and decades of practice.
My professional background (i.e., how I earned the money for the paint) is largely centererd on editing, publishing, and writing. I have degrees in these fields, and lots of experience, all of which contribute to the emphasis I place on the link between the visual (the artwork) and verbal (the rationale) in my creative practice. In other words, I dont make decor or stuff. I create on purpose. Aspris, né?
